The Fall River 2026 Fishing Trip was a Success!

The Oakland Casting Club gang is back from an epic 3 day trip.

The Club's June 25-27, 2026 fishing trip to the Fall River is over. Located about 1.5 hours northeast of Redding, the Fall River is the largest spring-fed system in the United States. It is an excellent trout fishery, and its constant supply of clean, cold water creates a nearly perfect environment for aquatic vegetation, insects, and trout to thrive. Hatches occur nearly every day, providing great opportunities to fish emergers and dry flies—a fly caster’s paradise right in our own backyard.
OCC members Todd P., Luis M., Ralph H., Charles R., Simon L. and John T. travelled to the Circle 7 Ranch outside Fall River Mills (a stunning location) for what is hoped to become an annual club event. The weather, scenery and fishing were amazing. With fish having become well educated since Opening Day several months ago, day fishing was challenging. But with the late evening hex hatch, those same once wary fish dropped their guard and more success was to be had. Although overall count was maybe lower than typical, quality was high as all fish ranged in the 16"-20" range (and I saw a few larger that were missed!). A shout out to Todd who did a stellar job organizing the event. Enjoy the pictures:
